The images below simulate the appearance of night scenes as seen by a 20-year old and a 80-year old observers.
Note that the visualization reflects the appearance for an average observer. Individual variations or patological changes in vision can have stronger impact than the age-related effects. The results assume compensated refraction.
The "original image" shows the best exposure of the original HDR image.
The images are best seen on a display of about 200 cd/m2 peak luminance, closely reproducing the sRGB colour space. The images were generated for a distance of approx. 0.46 m on a 24 inch monitor (angular resolution of 30 pixels per visual degree).
